Overview

Job Summary

 

The Strategic Sourcing Specialist supports the Procurement team by analyzing supplier performance, cost structures, and market trends to optimize sourcing strategies. This role is responsible for gathering and interpreting data to drive supplier negotiations, enhance supplier relationships, and support cost-saving initiatives. The specialist collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure procurement decisions align with business objectives, compliance requirements, and industry regulations. Performs responsibilities in accordance with applicable FDA, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and state regulations, as well as relevant standards, including but not limited to ISO 13485.

Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities

 

Advanced analytical skills in procurement data, supplier performance, and market trends to identify cost-saving opportunities.
 Support supplier evaluation and selection processes by providing data-driven insights.
 Support supplier contract negotiations and management to drive successful agreements that align with business objectives and optimize cost, quality, and service.
 Assist in the development and implementation of category management strategies.
 Support and optimize supplier scorecards to track performance metrics.
 Conduct cost modeling and should-cost analysis to support negotiations.
 Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align procurement strategies with operational needs.
 Monitor industry trends and supply chain risks to mitigate potential disruptions.
 Ensure compliance with procurement policies and regulatory requirements.

 

Networking/Key relationships

 

This position works regularly and collaboratively with staff in Werfen’s Receiving, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Production Planning, Shipping, and Finance teams.

Qualifications

Skills & Capabilities

 

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ADVANCED Excel, Power BI, and ERP systems (SAP preferred).
 Knowledge of data visualization tools and statistical analysis techniques.
 Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
 Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
 Demonstrated experience of successful use of customer relationship skills.
 Proven track record of successful supplier contract negotiation and management required.

 

Minimum Knowledge & Experience


Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.


Experience: 4-6 years in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain analytics, preferably in the medical device or life sciences industry.
Industry Knowledge: Understanding of supplier performance management, cost analysis, and procurement best practices.
Management has the discretion of substituting relevant work experience for a degree and/or making exceptions to the years of experience requirement.

 

Travel requirements

Limited domestic and international travel (<10%) to supplier sites and industry conferences.

 

 

The annual base salary range for this role is currently $80,000 to $125,000 per year. Individual employee compensation will ultimately depend on factors including education, relevant experience, skillset, knowledge, and particular business needs.

 

This role is eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401k plan retirement benefits with an employer match, as well as paid vacation and sick leave. Our sales roles are eligible for participation in a commission plan and our management, and select professional roles, are eligible for a performance-based bonus.
