Job Summary

 

Under limited oversight by Senior Management, develops strategy, implements, and leads Lean and Six Sigma training activities on a site; manages internal and external resources to establish and grow LSS initiatives at the business unit level. May lead additional group(s) such as the Manufacturing Process Science group or others, based on the site needs.

Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities

 

  • Works with cross functional leadership teams to develop projects and metrics for any special groups such as the Manufacturing Process Science group to mitigate risk in manufacturing areas with high complexity; may span across multiple divisions/sites
  • Mentors Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Leadership and other pertinent teams in Value Stream Mapping, SPC and One Piece Flow and other LSS/LEAN tools to improve Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost as linked to the Corporate or Operations goals and objectives
  • Lead and coach the LSS team and create 3-5 year roadmap for Bedford Operations that will be integrated with annual company and departmental goals
  • The Senior Manager, Operational Excellence is the resident expert in the application of Lean and Six Sigman tools and methodologies
  • As necessary, assumes project lead roles where business criticality or complexity requires in depth skill set or knowledge base
  • Works with teams to maintain records to clearly indicate problem solving techniques and decisions
  • Responsible for coordinating regional Cost & Quality program and presentations
  • Develop and track operational KPI’s & projects
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Networking/Key Relationships

  • The Senior Manager, Operational Excellence must be able to network and maintain working relationships with multiple levels of the organization including direct manufacturing staff, production line leadership, R&D counterparts as well as Senior and Executive management
  • Must be able to clearly articulate problems, solutions and business cases within these relationships to enable alignment and garner the necessary resources

Qualifications

Minimum Knowledge & Experience for the position:

  • Bachelor’s level degree in STEM discipline, MBA preferred
  • 10-15 years minimum experience in manufacturing in a highly technical, recognized Lean and Six Sigma environment
  • 3-5 years leading, teaching and mentoring others in LSS principles
  • Certified Master Black Belt preferred
  • Highly competent in Business software, e.g. Minitab, MS Excel, Project, Word, etc.

Management has the discretion of substituting relevant work experience for a degree and/or making exceptions to the years of experience requirement.

Travel Requirements:

  • <25% of time

The annual base salary range for this role is currently $165,000 range to $200,000 range. Individual employee compensation will ultimately depend on factors including education, relevant experience, skillset, knowledge, and particular business needs.

 

This role is eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401k plan retirement benefits with an employer match, as well as paid vacation and sick leave. Our sales roles are eligible for participation in a commission plan and our management, and select professional roles, are eligible for a performance-based bonus.
