Overview

Job Summary

This position is responsible for the overall accounting and costing functions at Werfen, including audit and compliance for Manufacturing and Operations.  Works collaboratively with the entire Finance team, management team and other departments.  Activities are performed in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs), Quality Systems Regulations (QSRs), financial, safety and administrative regulations and policies.

Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities

 

  • Constructs data accumulation systems for cost accounting system.
  • Creates and reviews controls needed for data accumulation and reporting systems.
  • Reviews standard and actual costs for inaccuracies.
  • Reviews, evaluates and approves Engineering change orders.
  • Validates the cost of goods sold as part of the month-end close.
  • Analyzes manufacturing costs and prepares regular reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
  • Collaborates with Manufacturing, Planning and Purchasing departments in the review and correction of variances.
  • Reports on break-even points by products, work centers, and factories.
  • Reports on margins by product and division.
  • Reports on periodic variances and their causes, focusing on spending variances.
  • Analyzes capital budget.
  • Performs cost accumulation tasks as a member of the target costing group.
  • Assists in the preparation of annual budget and forecast.
  • Provides support to business areas in the creation, processing and approval of engineering change orders.
  • Prepares cost estimates of new products or product redesigns.
  • Assists during audits, supports operations to ensure compliance with GAAP.
  • Supports month end closing with preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, general ledger, and other financial statements.
  • Performs annual review of internal controls.
  • Leads activities related to testing of internal controls.
  • Complies with applicable Inova standard operating procedures (SOPs), ISO, FDA and other Quality Systems regulations, as well as environmental Health & Safety, Human Resources and other regulatory and administrative policies.
  • Reflects Werfen values in the quality of work and in all working relationships.

  • No budgetary responsibility.

Networking/Key Relationships

  • May assist all internal departments with projects implemented by Werfen Corporate in Barcelona, Spain.
  • Will interface on a regular basis with assigned client groups, as well as other functional areas across the organization.

Qualifications

Minimum Knowledge & Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field required.
  • 1-2 year of related experience required.

Skills & Knowledge

    • Highly developed skill set in Microsoft Excel required.
    • Demonstrated experience developing financial and operational models required.
    • Experience with SAP strongly preferred.
    • Effective communications skills, both verbal and written, required.
    • Proven track record of ability to adapt quickly and learn new tasks independently required.

Travel Requirements:

  • 5% of time

 

Salary range for this position is $70,000 - $90,000 anually. Individual compensation is based on the candidate’s qualifications for the position, including experience, skills, knowledge, education, certifications, internal equity, budget, and/or other business and organizational needs.
