Job Summary

 

The Commodity Manager will lead procurement initiatives to optimize the supply chain for our manufacturing operations within electrical and chemical components. This role manages an assigned set of buyers in the respective category and requires a forward-thinking professional with a strong background in strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, and cost optimization within regulated industries. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in ensuring supply continuity, mitigating risks, and driving innovation in collaboration with suppliers while maintaining compliance with quality and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies for key categories, including electrical wires, cables, printed circuit boards, sensors and motors.
  • Perform spend analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities and consolidate suppliers.
  • Benchmark industry trends to align sourcing strategies with market dynamics.
  • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, delivery, and innovation capabilities.
  • Establish long-term partnerships with suppliers to ensure alignment with business goals.
  • Drive supplier performance through KPIs and regular business reviews.
  • Lead complex negotiations to secure competitive pricing, payment terms, and service levels.
  • Develop and manage supplier contracts, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify supply chain risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure business continuity.
  • Collaborate with quality and regulatory teams to maintain high standards of supplier quality and documentation.
  • Partner with engineering, operations, and product development teams to align sourcing decisions with product lifecycle goals.
  • Support new product introductions (NPI) by sourcing innovative materials and components.
  • Work closely with finance to manage budgets and report on cost-saving initiatives.
  • Implement best practices in procurement processes to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Leverage digital tools and analytics to improve visibility and decision-making in sourcing activities.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Knowledge & Experience for the position:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field; MBA or relevant certifications (e.g., CPSM, CSCP) preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management, ideally within the medical device, pharmaceutical, or related regulated industry.
  • Strong knowledge of global supply chain dynamics and sourcing strategies.
  • Proven track record in supplier negotiations, cost reduction, and contract management.
  • Familiarity with FDA regulations, ISO standards, and GMP requirements.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.

Travel requirements:
Up to 25% travel, domestic and international.
