Overview

We are seeking a Development Scientist for our Research & Development group. The Development Scientist performs a variety of tasks associated with the development of new products and manufacturing processes, the investigation into and implementation of product and process changes, and the transfer of new products and processes to the manufacturing departments. If your degree is in medical technology, biology, or immunology, this is a great opportunity to launch your career in assay development!

 Research & Development Scientist (Laboratory)


 

Responsibilities

As a Development Scientist, you will participate in identifying resources for the department including facility, equipment, personnel, and budgetary requirements.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Performing activities associated with the development of new products and new manufacturing processes
  • Performing specified administrative functions to ensure the appropriate day to day departmental operations
  • Implementing special projects and validations, as needed
  • Participating in developing departmental procedures, quality plans/device master records, and/or work instructions
  • Participating in training and the development of employee skills
  • Participating in procuring facility, equipment, personnel, and budgetary resources required by the department
  • Participating in forecasting future departmental needs for equipment/capital
  • Participating in the departmental internal audit process

Qualifications

 

We are seeking candidates with a high level of attention to detail, an understanding of the importance of design control, and strong written and verbal communication skills.

Additional requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, biology, chemistry, immunology, or a related field; Masters is a plus, but not required
  • ASCP certified Medical Technologist (MT) or Specialist in Blood Banker (SBB) preferred
  • Fifth year college or university program certificate, preferred
  • Understanding and demonstrated ability to operate under design control
  • Experience in transfusion medicine or working with biological materials preferred but not required
  • Knowledge and practice of GMP and GLP,highly desirable
  • Adequate vision to read and interpret test tube reactions
